The Moraine Hills State Park in northeastern Illinois is home to a variety of wildlife to be seen. The fascinating thing about my visit to this store was that it was the first air conditioner in McHenry County that allowed the store to sell chocolate all year round. The store was brewed during a food tour of Chicago I had done nine years earlier, and it is one of the best in the area.

The Elkhorn Fair is located at the corner of State Street and South Main Street, just south of the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The American Farmland Trust has named it the # 1 farmers market in Illinois, and I must say it is one of my favorite markets throughout the state of Illinois. The Riverside Chocolate Factory serves chocolates from the United States and Canada, as well as from around the world, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

There are many beautiful hiking and biking trails, but there are also more fun things to do, including the Richardson Adventure Farm, Richardson Park and Elkhorn State Park. More than 10 km of hiking trails run through the hills and are one of the most important recreational features of the park. The Orchard of the Seasons offers a variety of outdoor activities, including fishing and boating. In the fall, for example, it hosts the largest pumpkin field in the state of Illinois, with more than 1,000 acres of trees and plants. It offers outdoor events such as the annual Illinois State Fair, along with a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities, including camping, hiking, biking and more.
